Channel Graphs

Your data waves will automatically be displayed in one or more Channel Graphs, as shown above. Display functions can be found in the top-left drop-down menu (Overlay, Grid, Drag...), at the top of the graph (Filter, Transform, Autoscale) or inside a square marquee (Expand, NM Expand and Freeze...). The Wave-Number Select (3) determines which data wave(s) to display.

Filter your data waves (see Igor Pro’s FilterIIR and Smooth functions). Enter the filter frequency in kHz, or the number of smoothing points/operations, or enter 0 to turn off this virtual channel operation.

Transform – perform a virtual transformation on your data, such as Baseline, Normalize, dF/F0, Invert, Differentiate, Double Differentiate, Integrate, FFT, Running Average, FFT, Histogram and Clip Events.

Note, Filter and Transform are virtual operations that do not change your data waves, but rather change the channel display waves which are copies of your data waves. These operations are, however, recognized and used within the various analysis tabs, such as Main, Stats, Spike, Event and Fit.

Autoscale – turn axis autoscaling on/off (also see Freeze functions below).

Overlay multiple data waves in the channel graph. Overlayed waves will appear as gray by default. Enter the number of waves you wish to overlay, or 0 for none.

Grid – turn display grid on/off.

Drag – turn display drag waves on/off (vertical dashed red and green lines). Drag waves can be used to set the analysis time window when using the Stats, Spike, Event and Fit tabs.

Errors – automatically display standard deviations or standard errors. Error values must exist in waves that have the same name as your data waves, but with prefix “STDV_” or “SEM_”. For example, this function will work if your waves are named RecordA0, RecordA1, RecordA2... and your error waves are called STDV_RecordA0, STDV_RecordA1, STDV_RecordA2...

XLabel – change the channel x-axis label.

YLabel – change the channel y-axis label.

FreezeX – freeze channel x-axis scale (also see Square Marquee Functions).

FreezeY – freeze channel y-axis scale (also see Square Marquee Functions).

To Front – force the channel graph to the front of other graphs and tables when incrementing through your data.

Reset Position – move the channel graph to the NeuroMatic default position.

Off – turn the channel graph off. To turn back on select (Igor Menu/NeuroMatic/Windows/Display Channel Graphs).

Square Marquee Functions – using your mouse, frame a square marquee around the data of interest in a channel graph (click on the top-left corner of interest, drag down and to the right and unlick once you have reached the bottom-right corner of interest). Click inside the square. A drop-down menu will appear, as shown above, with various Igor graph scale functions (Expand, Shrink...), NM Expand and Freeze functions, and NeuroMatic Tab functions.

Configs – more options for changing the default channel graph appearance can be found on the NM Configurations Tab.
